About Carlee Holmes
Carlee Holmes, PhD, is the Senior Physiotherapist in the Young Adult Complex Disability Service at St. Vincent's Hospital Melbourne with a particular interest in the postural management of non-ambulant adults with cerebral palsy. Carlee has completed a PhD investigating "Assessment and Management of the common postural characteristics in young adults with Cerebral palsy” at Monash University. She has also gained additional certification in Postural Care and Measurement of Body Symmetry.
A Neurological Physiotherapist with 25 years of experience, Carlee is skilled in using the Bobath approach to manage neurological conditions. She specialises working with individuals who have
- cerebral palsy
- complex seating and bed positioning needs
- complex wheelchair prescription needs
- a stroke
- multiple sclerosis
- traumatic brain injury
- and a wide range of other neurological diagnoses
Carlee has worked extensively in the public and private hospital sectors, including in the UK, and graduated with a Master Degree of Physiotherapy in Neurological Physiotherapy from The University of Melbourne in 2001. She is a Clinical Advisor for the State Wide Equipment Program (SWEP) and has experience working within Spasticity Clinics.
Carlee has been an active member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and Neurology Special Interest Group and has a strong interest in providing education. She has been involved in presenting courses and seminars including:
- Spasticity Management
- Postural care
- Understanding Wheelchair Prescription
- Gait Re education in Cerebral Palsy
- Disability and the transition between the paediatric and adult healthcare systems
Carlee has attained the following additional qualifications
- Postural Care Awareness Level 2
- Measurement of Body Symmetry Level 3
